When my boat sits on the trailer, the raw water intake is covered by the starboard bunk. In order to run the engine on the trailer, I pulled the intake hose off the intake thru-hull and attached it to my Lowes special of adapters:

However, since building this Fake-A-Lake, I saw a valve posted on the Mastercraft Teamtalk site and have added this valve just above my raw water intake. Is this built in such a way that you close the lake water valve when you connect the hose? So as all the water goes to the engine.

Correct. All my hose water goes straight to my raw water pump when the valve is “closed”. When the valve is straight/open, nothing flows to the hose connection.

Not 100% certain, but fairly sure it's a 1" MNPT x 1-1/4" barb fitting for the existing hose.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. Formulaben is correct. Here’s the link. I don’t think I trimmed any hose but you may have to for fit purposes.

This is genius. Now to put something similar to all the drain points!! The new I/Os at the boat show have a 1 lever pull and drain setup. I saw it on a Volvo Penta but salesman says it is industry wide. You can use your boat anytime of the year with a setup like that.

This fancy valve will make things much easier though. I already have mine in order just hours after I read this. Thanks for sharing!!
