Did this last spring. I started out using a heat gun to remove all the old decals, They were so old and brittle they came off in little small pieces. First to go was that danger CO2 sticker lol. I had and expected to have some serious ghosting from the stickers. I also removed all the thru hull fittings, vents, cleats and lights. I wet sanded the boat over the next few weekends starting with 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, and 2000. I know I shouldn’t have but I used a air DA on the 2000 grit since the 3M supper cut claimed to remove 1200 sanding marks. Wish I would have listened and covered the trailer that was a son of a gun to get leaned up. I used a bottle jack and a block of wood on the trailer to get around the front of the bow. I buffed with 3M, Super cut, a medium cut and a finish polish. Then coated the boat with 3 coats of chemical guys hydro slick ceramic sealant. Keep it washed with chemical guys hydro suds that touches up the sealant. I installed the newer black and chrome Malibu decal on the back with a matched set of registration numbers. I like it bare but now the wife wants to add the wakesetter side decal. Then I did the gates and Fresh air exhaust
