So last season I decided to put in an extra cushion in the walkway to create more storage. The goal was to have it look stock, but be removable as well. I had bought all the materials and they sat in my garage until the evening before we were going to leave on a week long vacation that involves a lot of boating. So I hammered it out quick that evening...nothing complex, but I was also was lucky to avoid any real snafus!
Here's a very quick write up:
Bought a sheet of King Plastic Boat Starboard and cut.
Used some Starboard molding brackets for the corner support with countersunk stainless steel deck screws.
When looking for matching vinyl, I found a matching vinyl embroidered logo block at Great Lake Skippers.
Same material used for the backrest in the boat...never thought I'd find that!
Cut it, wrapped it ...
left some material to go around the sides and part of the top.
Had to remove staples and shave down one side so the cushion could fit in the more narrow walkway area.
Here's what it looks like...
(The cup holders are just squeezed in as needed)
I use the front to store bumpers and then have space for 2 top access portable coolers.
I'm only showing one cooler here but if you put them back to back then the cushion can be lifted from the front or rear for access.
The U shape can be slid forward and back to position but does not move even if an extra walkway ballast bag is in there.
I also love having a footrest to use when we cruise or float.
