1- did you use the gelcoat with wax?

2- do you have to lay primer down first? I seen another one of these writeups where he didnt do that..

3-bondoglass worked well for u? I used some marine filler in a few spots but may need more and am about out if it so bondoglass/kittyhair was my next thought.

Im most of the way thru doing this to an 07tige 24ve and its been such a pain to get all that glue out and the panel being too small( i got some nice weatherstripping that seals up the gal but kinda want an hdpe door now- thanks 😒) i was wanting to do a nice write up but looks like you’ve got it covered!

Apologies for this very late reply. I don't think I got notified and I haven't been super active on here lately.

    1) I did not use gelcoat I used 2 part epoxy. Generally epoxy and UV is a bad combo but this specific product I selected and recommended is UV resistant and its formulated for painting like the sides of industrial water tanks that are out in the sun continously. After 3 years it has not chipped, chalked or yellowed in the exposed areas.

    2) This epoxy product recommended the use of their primer and it was not expensive. The flooring was very porous and it took several coats of primer before it started to really fill in and close up the pores. If you use a different product primer might not be needed but I definitely did not want the coating to start peeling up and the gatorstep come up with it after a few years.  Again after 3 years it still looks like new.

    3) bondoglass worked gear for me. It was available locally and was easy to work with.

Great write up! We finally committed and bought the system yesterday.

When you receive the system is there any chance you would take measurements of the tabs?

I’m looking to duplicate the GSA tabs and use the controller documented here in other threads.

That looks great!   Excellent write up too.   Man, that glue is gonna be the challenge.  I have an 07... no gel underneath either.   Nicely done!

I wrote this up to share what I found to be the best methods and to save others time in tackling the same project and give some confidence going in to it. This is definitely a winter project as you don't want to rush the final product of the fit/finish of the fabrication parts.
